Frozen Red Bull Slush from Harvey's

Image
Do you know the meaning of these runes? They are different from the typical mark of the Bull, but know that these engravings portent the presence of the Bull, but in a even more terrifying and horrific form, the Bull has become the Bestial King of Winter and you are within his territory, and his sight... Hail. Long has it been since I have been able to record what I have learned on my journeys and I bear grave news for all: the Bull  has aligned the stars in such a way to foment his transformation into a great monstrosity ripped from the very glaciers of the Northern Lands .  The great corrupting plague that has consumed our realm has greatly restricted my wanderings, but, with the blessing of the local Thane and his constabulary, I am able to make short travels through my local fiefdom. It is during one of these travels that I learned of the return of the Bull . There are a great many wayhouses and shrines on the roads and pathways of the Northern Lands , and while I usually...

Reign Energy Razzle Berry

Image
Now appearing in the Canadian Market: Reign Energy, here's the Razzle Berry flavour. Hello wanderer, I mean you no harm, I too am a lone traveler in the vast fields of perdition that extend forever beyond the horizon. Long have I hidden myself in cave-complex hermitage where I have hoped to outlast the great plague, but now that I have come back to the surface, I see that there will never be respite from our damnation, only brief glimpses of paradise through the consumption of forbidden elixirs. This particular elixir , from the lands to the South, has undergone a formulation change to appease our cautious council of elders . Part of that formulation change is a significant reduction in potency - whereas the Eagle-Men are able to consume 300mg of caffeine, those of the Beaver-People are restricted to a mere 180mg of caffeine - such is the way of this land. The inverse side of the can, with its various selling features.  It is said that this series of admixtures was developed to co...

Arizona Hard Green Tea

Image
Is this an energy drink? Yeah, I am so far beyond being able to care that I tragically miss the days when I was capable of feeling anything other than shame and regret. So Canada rarely gets "exclusive" product tests or reveals, so this was something of a treat when I saw that there was an Arizona Tea brand hard tea available at my state-controlled happiness beverage shop. An examination of the can reveals that this is in fact, not a "real" Arizona  tea, but one made by the Molson-Coors conglomerate.  Just in case you forgot you were in Canada, everything on the can is printed twice, English and French. I have always thought that "The Vert" was a cool name for a drink, but it isn't.  I can remember distinctly, opening the can, hearing and feeling the slight pressure being released, the odd sensations that overcame me as I sniffed the aromas exited from the recently liberated pouring spout, then the massive and obscene disappointment ...

Rockstar Blackout

Image
Contrast helps people distinguish objects, both in a physical sense and a conceptual one. Without contrast we would stumble around through a maze of textures and colours that merge together into a unnavigable fog without any sort of distinction. The same is true in the realm of ideas, without good, how would we know evil; without hunger, how would we know satiety? What powerful malignant forces seeks to strip our reality of these bounding rules? For reasons that I do not yet fully understand, some power of immeasurable evil is using the  Rockstar Energy  company to unbind the individual components of our shared reality. The power , and here I hesitate to use the word "god"  acts on a cosmic scale and, while it has a great potential, it only seems to be able to interact in a tenuous, ambiguous fashion, at least, so far. Even now the conflict rages. Not a war of steel or electric current, but a metaphysical war that rages in the transitory boundaries betw...

NOS

Image
If you ever wondered why I review energy drinks, you are not alone in that wonderment. The truth is that I was given the quest to review energy drinks by the ghost of the Blind Hobo King. Why does he want the review? I don't know and I don't care to know - I learned early life that is just best to go with the flow when dealing with a madman whose grip on sanity is as tenuous as his grip on personal hygiene. So this is NOS . It is a beverage that was manufactured by a company that made automotive parts; then it was sold to Coca Cola; finally, it was sold to Monster. Throughout those ownership transfers it is nice to see that two things have remained consistent: the beverage is still the lesser "Monster"  that nobody cares about; and, the drink still tastes like a combination of various automotive fluids and lubricants. Location Purchased:  Gas Station Price when Purchased:  $3.59 Leafbacks Taste:  Have you ever heard of an animal licking engine cool...

Pocari Sweat

Image
There is a common vein in history that the greatest lies are most easily hidden when they are kept in plain sight, without any attempt to deny their nature. This beverage is the exact spirit of that concept. Can it possibly be true that there are such massive conspiracies that exist without being questioned? Even when questioned , the "makers" of the Pocari Sweat beverage make no effort to deny the true nature of the drink. They explain that the term "Pocari" has no "special meaning" and note that "Sweat" makes direct reference to actual sweat. Well, a lot of names are essentially meaningless, and that is what "Pocari" is, a name . While it is entirely clear that Pocari Sweat is bottled sweat, what is not entirely clear is what kind of person and/or creature  the Pocari is. Due to the refreshing sweet taste, it is unlikely that the Pocari  is a regular person, and is in fact, more likely to be either a heavily mutated hu...

Red Rain Sugar Free

Image
This "impostor" drink is sold alongside its "inspiration" at about the same price; but the habitual customers of the drink are as mysterious and unknown as the origins of the drink itself. In a lot of ways, this Canadian energy drink is emblematic of the energy drink situation in Canada. I haven't had Red Rain for a long time, this is going to be a review that focuses a a more broad topic. The "Energy Drink Market" in Canada is similar to that in the United States, just several years behind in fashion and crippled due to limitations on how much good stuff can be put into a single serving container. While there are a lot of energy drinks that are approved for sale in Canada, the market is not nearly as vibrant as it is in the USA or parts of Europe. As far as I can tell there is no Red Rain website, the closest thing I can find are two Facebook pages (one for Mexico and one for Kosovo ) connected to the brand. The most bizarre thing ab...
